Not every home has a straightforward set of steps. This one had a curved front entry with columns and a classic look - the kind of entrance where a generic, off-the-shelf railing would stick out like a sore thumb. So we built something specific to the home.
We fabricated and installed two black steel railings on either side of the front steps. The curved walkway dictated the placement, and the angles had to work with the existing masonry without looking forced or awkward. Getting the geometry right on something like this takes real attention to detail - there's no room to eyeball it when the home's exterior is this clean.
On the deck side, we had a different kind of challenge. The customer needed a step at the back door but wanted the flexibility to move it when needed. We built a steel deck step with an expanded metal grate surface and a single post handle - solid enough to feel secure underfoot, but light enough to reposition without a struggle. That kind of thinking is what separates a custom solution from a one-size-fits-all product.
What it all comes down to is fit. Fit to the architecture, fit to the way the homeowner actually uses their space, and fit to a standard that holds up over time. Every weld, every angle, every measurement on this job was done with that in mind.
Whether it's a curved front entry, a back deck, or something else entirely - if the stock options aren't cutting it, custom metal fabrication is worth a serious look. We handle the full process from design to installation, so the finished product works the way it's supposed to from day one.
